Spring in Albuquerque 

The beginning of spring is always exciting because it means getting out into the garden.  The radishes, lettuce, beets, spinach and peas are popping up out of the ground with the promise of fresh veggies around the corner. Yesterday we transplanted tomato seedlings from their starter cups to the next size pot. We will transplant one more time before we put them out in the garden. This helps make a strong root system.  We grow most of our food from seed so we get the varieties that we like best, it’s fun for us and it’s cheaper.
The not so fun part of spring is the wind we get every year and the watery eyes and sniffles that go with it.  In the past I have taken over the counter tablets starting in late February.  I admit that I bought them this year but I have been able to leave them on the shelf.  I’m diffusing equal parts lemon, peppermint and lavender all day long. I have an open kitchen, dining room and living room so I wasn’t sure what to expect.  When I go outside and come back in, the smell is heavenly so I know the diffuser is working in this large space. On tougher days like today when the wind is to blow 40 mph I put one drop of each on my wrist and rub my wrists together.  All three of these oils come in a starter kit. Give it a try.  And try growing a few tomatoes too.
